The City of Briarwood is a small, home rule-class city located in Jefferson County, Kentucky, within the Louisville metropolitan area. Our history is tied to the suburban development of the region, as we incorporated in 1957 during a period of growth and expansion in the Louisville area. The city was established to provide a close-knit community with suburban amenities while maintaining proximity to Louisville's urban center.

Covering just 0.10 square miles, Briarwood is a compact and peaceful community. As of the 2020 census, Briarwood had a population of 445 residents. The city is bordered by Plantation, Lyndon, and parts of Louisville, and is approximately 10 miles northeast of downtown Louisville.

Briarwood is known for its quiet neighborhoods and community-oriented atmosphere. It features the charming Briarwood Park, which includes a creek and a pavilion for events, making it a popular spot for families and gatherings. The city also includes Dove Creek Condominiums, offering a mix of attached and detached homes.
